Concise Copy beats verbose

Users want that information, fast. And you have to give it to them that way.

This has been the rule of the Internet since the its conception, and still holds truth today.

Good UX is not just buttons that are well placed, and have good contrast, etc. etc.  You also have to deal with textual content, and making good use of the limited real estate that you have in browsers especially in mobile devices.

Here are 4 simple steps to writing good, and brief copy:

  1. Use active voice instead of passive.
  2. Do not use meaningless words to pad your content, but instead use clear, and straight to the point language.
  3. Get rid of repeated words.
  4. Re-read your content, and find phrases that can be replaced by one word.
